Song: Prelude in C Sharp minor Op 3 No 2 ( Sergey Rachmaninoff )
Performed By: Andrejs Osokins
Host: Latvian National Symphony Orchestra
Copyright: Andrejs Osokins
r,Andrejs Osokins evidently has very few peers and is regarded as one of the world's current best pianists. His playing is filled with exceptional emotional tensions, effortless technique, measureless depth and an inveterate mastery of tones. At his very best, he has a desirable manner of playing that makes the piano sound noteworthy, wholly natural and unostentatious whilst employing austere classical forms, the deceptive art of minimalism in music and an opulent array of extended paino techniques. Prelude in C Sharp minor Op 3 No 2 is no challenge and nowhere near a hurdle for Andrejs, and this version in particular, patently surpasses many other interpretations of the same. Many others themselves have described Andrejs as virtous, powerful, charismatic, and convincing in numerous styles of music beyond playing piano. Andrejs has recieved several major awards from the world's greatest piano competitions and he frequently performs at the Berliner Philharmonie, the Gasteig concert hall in munich, Konzerthaus Berlin and Auditorium La Verdi in Milan. He is a national recipient of The Grand Music Award, the highest form of state concession in the field of music in Latvia and was also awarded an Associate Of The Royal Academy Of Music In London.
Andrejs's sizeable repertoire further includes concerto performances with the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France, Manchester's The Hallé symphony orchestra, the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra and Dublin's RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. He has also been under direction by notable conductors Sir Mark Elder, Marin Alsop, Yuri Simonov, Bojan Videnov and James Judd, among others. He regularly recieves invitations to perform at exclusive venues such as the National Concert Hall , Wigmore Hall and Kings Place concert hall , the La Monnaie concert hall , the Opera Comique and the Symphony Hall. Andrejs is laureate of the world's most prominent piano competitions, including the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, the Long-Thibaud International Competition, the Leeds International Piano Competition and the Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition.

We spoke to Ian during the 2019-20 Coronavirus pandemic and here is what he had to say:
" Dear FFT&M.Journal, Music and reading are powerful companions in such a time of global despair and individual isolation. I am thankful to feature in your magazine and I ask that you and your readers join me in discovering, listening and purchasing music in support of your favourite artists and other newly found musicians and composers during this truly uncertain time for the film and music industry."
Ian Arber is a film and television composer with a growing portfolio of work across a variety of genres. He is best known for his work on The BBC Proms Theme (2019) which was the first time a composer had been officially commissioned to write this particular theme and was exclusively recorded at Maida Vale Studios with the BBC Concert Orchestra. Ian also co-scored BBC One 6-part Thriller ‘The Capture’ with Blur’s Dave Rowntree. In 2018, Ian scored series 2 of Netflix's 'Medici', in addition to Paolo Buonvino's themes from series 1. He also scored 'Sisters of the Wilderness' which won 'Best Feature' at the Durban Film Festival qualifying the documentary for Academy Award contention. After scoring over 30 films, Ian’s big break came in 2015 assisting composer Joe Kraemer on his score for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. He assisted Joe throughout writing, preparation and recording of the score. Shortly after this, he scored the coming-of-age feature film Scott and Sid which had a theatrical release and zombie-horror 'Redcon-1', which premiered at the Raindance Film Festival. He ended 2018 scoring documentaries ‘Hitsville: The Making of Motown’ produced by Fulwell 73 and Berry Gordy, and also the above featured, award winning ‘Show Me The Picture: The Story of Jim Marshall’ which premiered at SXSW and won the audience choice award at SFFF.
Ian is bringing an up-to-date and unique compositional style to each one of his projects, testing limits by incorporating rare and exotic sounds and instruments. Not only is he commended for using his cello for conspicously melodic phrases throughout his scores, but also the use of other unique, intricate percussive and atmospheric elements. Because of this expertise in music comprehension, we learn even more about legendary music photographer and godfather of rock ‘n’ roll photography, Jim Marshall than we knew before in this documentary and soundtrack. Jim had extended access to numerous musicians through the 1960s and 1970s and was chief photographer at Woodstock. Ian perfectly captures and amplifies the many deeply moving and unforgetable moments that highlight Jim's notable career. THE CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA & LONDON METROPOLITAN ORCHESTRA - THE CRIMSON WINg: Mystery of the flamingos.

Genres: Motion Picture Soundtrack/Documentary/Orchestral/Cinematic Trailer.
Awards: Best Original Score for a Documentary Film.

Owing to the brilliant ageless music of The Cinematic Orchestra(CO) and The London Metropolitan Orchestra(LMO), we now have a moving, well documented, memorable storyline and much better scientific understanding about the strikingly colorful, majestic, and at times, enviromentally inconspicious flamingo bird - a comprehensive look into just how these secretive, wondrous, misunderstood creatures commune, reproduce and survive planet earth. The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos is a powerfully evocative soundtrack set to the French documentary film (Les Ailes Pourpres: Le Mystère Des Flamants). This elaborate score illuminates the many awe-inspiring riddles explored in the motion picture such as the flamingo's ability to detect rain 500km away, eating with their heads positioned upside-down and whilst being born black and white, how they attain their highly admirable pink shade. This album won Best Music Score for a Documentary Film at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival and was also nominated for an IFMCA Best Original Score for a Documentary Film Award. Unanimously regraded as some of Cinematic Orchestra's best work, their collaboration with The London Metropolitan Orchestra (LMO) on this project guranteed the deliverance of rudimental, non-negotiable, deep-seated, emotive orchestral content that will be remembered forever. It's an intrepidly beautiful collection of exquisitely assembled songs centered around the themes of nature, love, survival and unwaivering belief.
The Cinematic Orchestra were formed by Jason Swinscoe and currently includes Patrick Carpenter, Luke Flowers on drums, Tom Chant on saxophone, Nick Ramm on piano, Stuart McCallum on guitar, and Phil France on double bass as it's members and are featured here courtesy of the LMO. The London Metropolitan Orchestra is London's finest multimedia orchestra and has been engaged by all the major Hollywood studios and worldwide record companies since its formation in 1994. Andy Brown, Music Director of LMO, has directed the orchestra in numerous studio recordings, live performances and TV broadcasts. He has also directed numerous film scores with LMO including Gangs of New York (which received 10 Oscar nominations), Layer Cake, the Oscar nominated film Closer, Stardust, The Young Victoria, Babylon A.D, The Boat That Rocked, Kick-Ass, About Time, and 47 Ronin. It truly is our greatest pleasure to sit down and interview Mr. Brown and have him debut our very first upcoming Q&A column regarding his very expansive experiences. The LMO as an orchestra employs London’s best musicians renowned for their virtuosity, combining to give universally acclaimed performances. The LMO has also worked with many of film music’s best known and celebrated composers gaining worldwide recognition for it's numerous television soundtracks including the multiple award winning Band of Brothers and Inspector Morse and has collaborated on recordings and live performances with international artists including: Paul McCartney, U2, Eric Clapton, Annie Lennox, Sting, Bryan Adams, Quincy Jones, Pink Floyd, Jon Bon Jovi, Vangelis, Simply Red, Pet Shop Boys and The Last Shadow Puppets .
